GROUND-WATER MODELING
Sophisticated ground-water computer models have become valuable tools in determining the underground movement of water and contaminants. At Leggette, Brashears & Graham (LBG), our highly-qualified ground-water modeling staff provides a full range of modeling services, tailored to fit any project requirements.
LBG personnel have extensive training and considerable experience in the use of a wide variety of numerical and analytical models. The firm has developed ground-water flow and/or transport models for diverse applications, ranging from ground-water resource development to evaluating alternate cleanup strategies at waste sites to establishing zones of well head protection.
In all cases, the selection of model codes is based on individual project requirements. For complex ground-water flow modeling, we most often employ the United States Geological Survey's MODFLOW. Detailed contaminant transport modeling is performed using MT3D and compatible codes. For projects requiring a lower level of detail, a variety of analytical and analytical element models are used.
LBG has the capabilities to present model results in an assortment of formats, including computer drawn plates or as digital files that are compatible with Geographical Information System (GIS) mapping programs. To assist with interpretation of results, several post-processors can be used to produce contour maps of heads, drawdowns, flow directions and concentrations. Model results can be uploaded to our secure Internet web server for private review by our clients.
LBG personnel also can write new programs to assist in model input and interpretation. We offer unsurpassed technical capabilities and extensive modeling expertise, because in the final analysis, the success of any ground-water model is dependent on the technical skill of the team performing the task.
