LBG Names Four Associates

SHELTON, CT -- Leggette, Brashears & Graham, Inc. (LBG), a professional groundwater and environmental engineering services firm, has named Hillol Guha, Lydia Key, Michael Shortell, John Zbell and Kevin Brien associates.
Dr. Guha, based in the Shelton, CT office, has considerable experience in hydrogeologic/hydrologic investigations, specializing in water supply development, testing, effluent disposal and reuse, groundwater and surface water modeling, and has undertaken numerous feasibility studies and remedial investigations. He is a Certified Professional Hydrologist (Groundwater) by the American Institute of Hydrology and a Licensed Professional Geologist by the American State Board of Geologists in Florida and Texas. Dr. Guha earned a Ph.D. in hydrogeology from Florida International University; an M.S. in hydrogeology from Western Michigan University; an M.S. in applied geology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India; and a B.S. in geology from the University of Calcutta in India. His professional affiliations include the American Institute of Hydrology, Geological Society of America, American Geophysical Union and National Groundwater Association
Ms. Key is also based in the Shelton, CT office. She has managed numerous projects at industrial, commercial, municipal and residential sites, including Phase I site assessments, Phase II and Phase III subsurface investigations, the design and implementation of remedial action plans, and the establishment and oversight of various groundwater monitoring programs. She also has experience in water-supply work, including hydrogeologic testing programs to determine optimal locations and design specifications for public water-supply wells, water-diversion permit application preparation, programs designed to monitor performance of public water-supply wells, and chemical and mechanical rehabilitation of water-supply wells. Ms. Key earned a B.A. degree in geology from Yale University. She is a member of the Association of Groundwater Scientists and Engineers.
Mr. Shortell has experience in the design, operation and maintenance of potable groundwater supply systems, including transient, non-transient non-community and community water supply systems. In addition, he has experience with conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (CTDEP) Remediation Standards Regulations and has designed soil and groundwater remediation systems for commercial, industrial and Superfund sites. Mr. Shortell is based in the Shelton, CT office and holds an M.S. degree in environmental engineering from the University of New Haven and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University.
John Zbell’s experience encompasses both soil and groundwater contamination investigation and remediation, and hydrogeologic testing and analysis. He currently manages sites undergoing investigation and remediation as part of the CTDEP Property Transfer Program, CTDEP Consent Order, CTDEP Voluntary Remediation Program, and sites entered in the CTDEP Underground Storage Tank (UST) Petroleum Clean-Up Account Program. His contamination experience includes the design and management of Phase I, II & III environmental site assessments, statistical analysis of soil and groundwater data, cost estimate and proposal preparation, and the projection of long-term environmental financial liability. He earned a B.S. degree in geology from Dickinson College and works from the Shelton, CT office.
Mr. Brien, who joined LBG in 2001, is based in the firm’s West Chester, Pennsylvania office. His areas of expertise include groundwater and soil sample collection; supervision of underground storage tank removals and excavation of contaminated soils; oversight of soil boring and well installation; and design, operation and maintenance of groundwater and soil remediation systems.
Mr. Brien earned an M.S. degree in water resource and environmental engineering from Villanova University, a B.S. in environmental science from Philadelphia University, and a B. Tech. in civil and environmental engineering from Strathclyde University in Scotland. He is a member of the National Groundwater Association
