John Nelson's experience includes: reviewing water well, hydrogeologic and aquifer data and well and test hole geophysical logs; preparing well, pump and motor design data for large-capacity public supply wells; evaluation and field inspection of test hole and water well drilling, geophysical logging, ground-water sampling, well construction, well testing and well and pump rehabilitation work; performing and evaluating well, pump and motor performance tests of large-capacity water wells; conducting ground-water availability and development studies; analyzing aquifer and hydrogeologic data for regional ground-water flow models; collecting data for water-level and water-quality monitoring programs; evaluating hydrogeologic data for dewatering and ground-water management associated with gold mining operations and construction projects; evaluating the possible effects of natural gas storage in a deep sandstone reservoir and reviewing aquifer and gas reservoir monitoring data; performing potential pollution hazards studies, Phase I environmental site assessments and wellhead protection studies for water well sites; and performing feasibility studies for artificial recharge of aquifers using wells and spreading basins and evaluating pilot recharge testing using wells. Many of the projects involve water wells completed in and/or technical studies of the Chicot, Evangeline and Jasper aquifers (Gulf Coast aquifer) in southeast and east Texas and the Carrizo, Carrizo-Wilcox, Simsboro, Sparta, Yegua and Queen City aquifers in southeast, east and south-central Texas and the Trinity and Woodbine aquifers in north-central Texas.
He has also performed karst hydrogeology studies including cave mapping and joint, fracture, lineament, spring hydrograph, water budget and water sample analyses.
The locations of the projects completed to date have been in Texas, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan and Alabama.
