WATER-SUPPLY DEVELOPMENT INTERNATIONAL TRADE CENTER MOUNT OLIVE, NEW JERSEY

The 400-acre International Trade Center Office Park and New Jersey Foreign Trade Zone in Mount Olive, New Jersey is a prime real estate development, housing over 4,000 jobs and many large and small businesses, including several Fortune 500 Companies. Recent expansions to accommodate growth have increased the demand for additional water supply.

After locating, testing and permitting an additional supply source, LBG created plans and specifications for a pumping and treatment system and its connection to the existing storage and distribution system. The design and construction schedule was developed to avoid interruption of ongoing service, as well as provide an effective system for disinfection and corrosion control.

Negotiations with state regulatory authorities were carried out to obtain the necessary permits for water withdrawal. Including the formulation and implementation of a monitoring plan to demonstrate that the water withdrawal would not harm the local environment or exceed the long-term aquifer recharge.

In providing construction oversight, LBG responded promptly to requests for review and approval or clarification, expediting the construction process. Comprehensive testing procedures were carried out to ensure strict adherence to all quality controls.

The end result is a new 800 gallon per minute water supply for the rapidly expanding Office Park and Foreign Trade Zone. LBG's thorough understanding of the site hydrogeology as well as its careful attention to detail and quick response enabled the project to be completed without any delays, temporary shortages or cost overruns.
